Felony Warrant Service Ends in Arrest in Singletary Sites

A wanted felon was taken into custody Saturday morning following a coordinated felony warrant service in the Singletary Sites community, according to Newton County Sheriff Colton Havard.
On Saturday, January 3, 2026, at approximately 10:15 a.m., Sergeant Cagle, Deputy Graves, and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to a residence on Private Road 8034 to serve multiple felony warrants.
Upon arrival, deputies located Jonathan Wayne Gipson, who was wanted on several outstanding felony warrants. Gipson was taken into custody without incident.
Gipson was transported to the Newton County Jail, where he was charged with the following offenses:
Disorderly Conduct – Discharge of a Firearm (Third Degree Felony)
Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon (Third Degree Felony)
Credit or Debit Card Abuse (State Jail Felony)
Sheriff Havard credited the coordinated efforts of Newton County deputies and DPS troopers for the successful and safe apprehension.
As with all cases, Gipson is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The Newton County Sheriff’s Office continues to encourage residents to report suspicious activity and remains committed to locating and apprehending wanted individuals throughout the county.
