On Thursday, October 30, 2025, Newton County authorities located and arrested a woman wanted on a felony warrant stemming from a recent vehicle pursuit in Deweyville.
According to Sheriff Colton Havard, Deputy Brent Sonnier and Deputy Kiana Dixon traveled to a residence on County Road 4146 to serve an active felony warrant on Bailey Nicole Johnson. Johnson, who was sought by Newton County for evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle, had been on law enforcement’s radar following a pursuit that occurred on September 27, 2025, in the Deweyville area.

Deputies made contact with Johnson at the residence and took her into custody without incident. She was transported to the Newton County Jail.
Sheriff Havard commended the deputies for their work, noting that proactive warrant service like this plays a critical role in keeping communities safe.
“Our deputies are out there every day following up on leads and actively searching for individuals with felony warrants,” Havard said. “We appreciate the public’s continued support and cooperation.”
Johnson will face charges related to the original vehicle pursuit.
