On Saturday, 78-year-old Art Johnson, formerly of Call, TX was discovered missing by his wife, Kathleen Johnson.
Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard received a "Silver Alert" regarding Johnson's disappearance and immediately shared the information online. ETB also shared the information on all three of our websites in an attempt to help locate Johnson.
Just two hours later, Johnson was located safe in Lumberton. Sheriff Havard said, "At approximately 6:45 this evening, I received a phone call from Brittney Long, an employee of Circle K convenience store in Lumberton. Ms. Long advised me that a customer recognized Mr. Johnson from our Facebook post and they have him safe at the store. We are enroute to get Mr. Johnson and we will reunite him with his family."
At 6:30 pm, Sheriff Havard called ETB Reporter, Sandi Saulsbury to say that he was leaving Lumberton with Johnson in his truck with him and that he is on his way to take him to meet his family.
Havard added, "Thank you to Chief Danny Sullins and the Lumberton Police Department their assistance. And, thank you to the citizens of Jasper County and Southeast Texas for always helping us!!"
The couple resided in Jasper County for many years before retiring in Rusk County.
