EVADALE, Texas — What began as a 911 call for help quickly unraveled into a bizarre hoax in Evadale on Sunday morning, leading to the arrest of a 37-year-old man.
On September 7, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Deputy Matt Harrell was dispatched to a residence in Evadale after a report that an individual had stabbed himself in the arm and was bleeding. The call came from the man’s girlfriend, who ran to a neighbor’s home to dial 911 after believing he had injured himself.
Deputy Harrell immediately requested first responders to stage near the location. Sgt. Cody Christopher, two Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, and an ambulance also responded from Jasper with emergency lights and sirens.
Before deputies arrived, the man — identified as Dorian Harris, 37, of Evadale — allegedly told his girlfriend that he intended to assault the ambulance crew when they reached the scene.
Upon investigation, Deputy Harrell discovered that Harris had staged the entire incident as part of a social media video. Officials reported that Harris used ketchup to simulate blood as part of the false scenario.
Harris was taken into custody and charged with False Report or Alarm, a Class A misdemeanor. He was transported to the Jasper County Jail.
Harris is considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Sheriff Chuck Havard emphasized his department’s continued dedication to protecting the community.
