ORANGE COUNTY, Texas — The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for a Dispatch Supervisor position within its Emergency Communications operations.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the position falls under the Support Division and will oversee daily operations of the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center. The Dispatch Supervisor will be responsible for supervising 911 dispatch personnel, coordinating shift coverage, and ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
The position offers a starting salary of $28.95 per hour.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must hold a Texas Telecommunicator License (TCOLE) and have a minimum of six years of experience as a public safety dispatcher. At least five years of experience in a lead, training officer, or supervisory dispatch role is preferred.
Candidates must also be familiar with Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) security requirements. Prior experience serving as a Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) is preferred; however, applicants not already certified must obtain TAC certification immediately upon assuming the position. All applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and drug screening.
Job Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of the Dispatch Supervisor include:
Managing daily operations of the Emergency Communications Center
Supervising and mentoring 911 dispatch personnel
Coordinating emergency call-taking and radio dispatch services
Overseeing training and performance evaluations for dispatch staff
Administering and troubleshooting communications systems
Ensuring compliance with CJIS security policies and law enforcement database access requirements
