The East Texas Banner is inviting residents across Jasper, Newton, and Tyler Counties to help shine a light on the incredible teachers who make a difference in classrooms every day.
The East Texas Teacher Spotlight Giveaway, sponsored by El Charrito Mexican Restaurant in Jasper, celebrates educators who go above and beyond for their students — from late-night grading to early-morning pep talks and everything in between.
Community members can submit nominations now through 11:59 p.m. on October 31, 2025 by emailing bd@easttexasbanner.com
Each nomination should include:
The teacher’s name
Their school and county (Jasper, Newton, or Tyler)
A short note about why they deserve recognition
One teacher from each county will be selected to receive a $25 gift certificate to El Charrito, as a small but heartfelt “thank-you” for their dedication and hard work.
“Teachers are the heartbeat of our communities,” said ETB staff. “They show up every day for our kids, in and out of the classroom, and we want to take a moment to show up for them.”
Late submissions received after 11:59 p.m. on October 31 will not be accepted. Winners will be announced in early November on the East Texas Banner’s Facebook page and website.
Whether it’s a veteran teacher who’s inspired generations or a first-year educator making their mark, East Texas Banner encourages everyone to take a moment to say thank you — and help us recognize the best of East Texas.
