JASPER, Texas — Got a few hours to spare this Saturday? You can help fight hunger right here at home. East Texans are invited to join forces for a hands-on community event to pack 12,000 meals for local food banks serving Jasper, Newton, Sabine, and San Augustine Counties.
The Feeding East Texas event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 740 Verna Street in Jasper, and organizers are asking for volunteers ages 12 and up to help assemble the meal kits — no cooking required.
Hosted by The United Methodist Church of the Pines, this “event-with-a-purpose” is designed to give neighbors a simple, meaningful way to make a big impact. A light lunch will be provided to all who help.
