KIRBYVILLE, TX-
Just after 3:10 a.m. Tuesday morning, the Kirbyville Police Department and the Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Department were called out to US Highway 96 and Farm to Market Rd 363 in Kirbyville for a two-vehicle crash that stemmed from a Police chase that began in Hardin County.
Earlier in the morning, at approximately 2:45 a.m., the Lumberton Police Department began a high speed pursuit. According to the Jasper County Sheriff's Report, while fleeing, the driver discarded a large amount of narcotics.

Jasper County Deputies and Silsbee Police joined the chase in Buna. The chase reached speeds in excess of 100 MPH. The driver was identified as 39-year-old Julius T. Nix of Louisiana.
According to the report, while attempting to leave Kirbyville, Nix failed to negotiate the turn at FM 363 in Kirbyville, slamming into the side of a tractor trailer. Since the car was immobilized, Nix fled North on foot into a wooded area and attempted to hide a large amount of ecstasy pills and a large amount of what is believed to be Cocaine.
Jasper County Deputies, Silsbee Police, Lumberton Police, and Kirbyville Police teamed up with the Jasper Police Department's K-9 team. Before long, Nix was located hiding in the woods just South of the Bon Ami Road, or County Road 451.
Nix was taken into custody, and the Lumberton Police Department transported him back to Hardin County. The truck driver sustained minor injuries and was evaluated by Allegiance Emergency Medical Services.
