Early Morning Accident Near Roganville Sends Kirbyville Man to St. Elizabeth with Life Threatening Injuries

ROGANVILLE, TX-
At 1:56 am Sunday morning, rescuers were called out to Highway 96 near County Road 440 in the Roganville area. The Roganville Volunteer Fire Department was on the scene quickly directing traffic and assisting those who were involved.
According to information gathered at the scene, a semi-truck driven by 43-year-old Edwin Gonzales of Mexico was traveling North on Hwy 96 in the outside lane. At that same time, 35-year-old Rudy Bonzon of Kirbyville was driving a Toyota SUV and was also traveling North, but on the inside lane. The Department of Public Safety Media Sergeant Shana Clark said that Bonzon traveled into the outside lane and struck the left side of the trailer, lost control and overturned his vehicle.
Gonzales was not injured in the accident, however Bonzon was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
