Driver Uninjured After Vehicle Strikes Cattle on FM 1013 Near Mount Union

JASPER COUNTY – Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded Sunday evening to a crash involving a vehicle and a herd of cattle along Farm-to-Market Road 1013, near County Road 534 in the Mount Union area.
According to preliminary information from the DPS Southeast Texas Region, the crash occurred at approximately 8:12 p.m. on October 26, 2025, when a 2013 Honda SUV traveling westbound struck several cattle that had entered the roadway.
The driver, identified as 68-year-old Cheyenne Broussard of Spurger, was not injured in the crash.
The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department also responded to assist with traffic control, scene safety and worked to remove debris and livestock from the roadway.
Authorities remind motorists traveling rural routes like FM 1013 to remain alert for livestock and wildlife, especially during early morning and evening hours when visibility is reduced.
No additional information has been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
