Driver Crashes on FM 252 After Attempted Pass, Taken Into Custody

Emergency crews responded just after 1 p.m. Saturday to a one-vehicle crash with entrapment along the 5400 block of FM 252 in Jasper.
According to information gathered on scene by East Texas Banner, the male driver reportedly attempted to pass another vehicle he claimed was "going slow." During the maneuver, the driver lost control of his vehicle and veered off the roadway, crashing into several trees.
Despite the severity of the crash, the driver appeared to be uninjured. He was later placed into custody by a Jasper County Sheriff’s Office deputy. Details surrounding potential charges have not yet been released.
Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department, Allegiance EMS, Jasper Exxon Towing, Jasper County Sheriff’s Department, and the Texas Department of Public Safety all responded and assisted at the scene. The Texas DPS is leading the investigation.
