JASPER COUNTY, Texas – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has released additional details regarding a three-vehicle crash that occurred Sunday afternoon on U.S. Highway 190 at the Dam B Bridge.
According to DPS, troopers responded at approximately 4:50 p.m. on August 17. The preliminary investigation indicates a Honda Odyssey and a Ford F-150 were stopped at a red light facing west when a Chevrolet Silverado struck the rear of the Ford, pushing it into the Honda.
The driver of the Honda, identified as 57-year-old Patrick Leger of Warren, and four passengers — including three children — were not injured.
The driver of the Ford, identified as 30-year-old Cody Brown of Cleveland, and one passenger were also uninjured.
The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 26-year-old Samantha Robinson of Livingston, was not injured.
Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department (BGVFD) was first dispatched, with additional support from Allegiance Mobile Health – Jasper EMS, Dam B Volunteer Fire Department, and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office. Vehicles were removed by Jasper Xxon Towing and Recovery and Hatch’s Towing, LLC.
Chief Jamie Gunter of BGVFD noted that the wreck occurred at the exact same location as two other recent accidents, including one that resulted in a fatality. He added that extreme conditions — with bright sunlight and a 108-degree heat index — created additional challenges for first responders.
BGVFD responded with E11, B12, and 12 firefighters.
DPS stated the crash remains under investigation. Preliminary findings indicate the Chevrolet Silverado struck the Ford F-150, which was then pushed into the Honda Odyssey. No further updates are available at this time.
