Deweyville to Host Precinct 4 Candidate Forum Ahead of March Primaries

DEWEYVILLE — Voters across Precinct 4 and surrounding East Texas communities will have an opportunity to hear from candidates in countywide and state legislative races during a Precinct 4 Candidate Forum scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 12, at Deweyville Elementary School.
The forum will take place at the Deweyville Elementary School Cafeteria, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the event beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Organized and facilitated by community member Cade Leger, the forum will follow a moderated question-and-answer format and focus on issues impacting Precinct 4 residents, including rural infrastructure, property taxes, and school funding.
Candidates who have confirmed their participation include:
Lee Fillyaw, candidate for County Judge
Keina McDaniel, candidate for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4
Jay “Butch” Brown, candidate for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4
Leanord “Bubba” Powell, Precinct 4 Commissioner
Ronnie Cochran, candidate for County Judge
Trent Ashby, candidate for State Senate District 3
Rhonda Ward, candidate for State Senate District 3, has been invited and is pending acceptance.
According to organizers, invitations have also been extended to additional candidates running in State Senate District 3 and other county-wide races.
Community members are encouraged to submit questions ahead of time through a digital submission form, which will be used to help guide the discussion during the forum.
The event is open to the public and is intended to give voters direct access to candidates before casting ballots in the March 3 primary election.
