Deputy Involved in Minor Traffic Collision; Driver Arrested for DWI-3rd

JASPER COUNTY, Texas — On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at approximately 4:52 p.m., a Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputy was involved in a minor traffic collision at the intersection of U.S. Highway 96 and FM 1007 in north Jasper County.

According to Sheriff Chuck Havard, neither the deputy nor the driver of a pickup truck were injured in the crash. Both vehicles sustained only minor damage.
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to the scene and arrested the driver of the pickup for Driving While Intoxicated – 3rd offense (DWI-3rd). The individual was transported to the Jasper County Jail.
“We are thankful our deputy and the other driver were not injured,” Sheriff Havard said.
Texas DPS is leading the crash investigation, which remains ongoing.
