JASPER COUNTY, Texas — On Friday, September 19, 2025, at approximately 10:14 p.m., Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputy Gray was patrolling near Rayburn Country Club when he spotted a tan Ford Ranger believed to be linked to a wanted felon.
Deputy Gray ran the vehicle’s license plate through JCSO Communications, which revealed the plate was registered to the Coleman Police Department. Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Robert Carlton III, 53, of Brookeland, deputies confirmed Carlton was wanted by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office for Bail Jumping on an original charge of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, a third-degree felony punishable by two to ten years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
Carlton was placed under arrest on the confirmed warrant and transported to the Jasper County Jail. The license plate, previously assigned to the Coleman Police Department, was seized as part of the investigation, which remains ongoing.
As with all cases, Carlton is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Sheriff Chuck Havard reaffirmed that the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to combating criminal activity and keeping the community safe.
