KIRBYVILLE, Texas – A Kirbyville man is behind bars after deputies responded to reports of gunfire late Thursday afternoon.

On August 28, 2025, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Sgt. Chris Wade and Deputy Jacob Spivey with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to County Road 451 after a complainant reported that “bullets” had struck a neighboring residence.

During the investigation, authorities identified the shooter as Jeremiah Beck, 38, of Kirbyville. Deputies confirmed Beck was in possession of a 12-gauge shotgun, which he admitted to firing. Sgt. Wade inspected the firearm and discovered it had been reported stolen out of Angelina County.

Further investigation revealed that Beck had discharged the weapon in the direction of a residence, acting recklessly without regard for whether the home was occupied.

Beck was placed under arrest and booked into the Jasper County Jail on charges of Deadly Conduct, a third-degree felony, and Possession of a Stolen Firearm, a state jail felony. All suspects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Sheriff Chuck Havard expressed gratitude to law enforcement involved, stating his office remains committed to combating criminal activity in Jasper County. He also extended thanks to Kirbyville Police Department Officer Scott Duncan for assisting deputies on the call.
