JASPER COUNTY — A Buna man was taken into custody Saturday night after deputies discovered what they believe to be methamphetamines during an investigation into reports of gunfire.
According to Sheriff Chuck Havard, the incident occurred around 9:34 p.m. on October 19, 2025, when Deputies Gray and Morgan responded to a call about shots fired in the 2700 block of County Road 786.
While deputies were on scene, they observed a vehicle driven by Paul James Taucer, 38, of Buna, traveling down the road. Taucer stopped and spoke with the deputies, who asked if he had witnessed anything unusual in the area.

During the brief conversation, Taucer reportedly told Deputy Gray that he was in possession of illegal drugs. Deputies then located a substance believed to be methamphetamines and arrested him for Possession of a Controlled Substance, a third-degree felony. Taucer was transported to the Jasper County Jail.

Sheriff Havard emphasized that his office remains committed to combating drug-related activity and keeping Jasper County communities safe.
Taucer is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
