BROOKELAND – A Brookeland man is in custody after deputies linked him to a commercial burglary earlier this month.
Around 12:08 a.m. on Aug. 8, Deputy Noel responded to a commercial burglary alarm at 4301 Sam Rayburn Parkway. While en route, dispatchers advised that the business owner was monitoring live security footage and saw a suspect inside the building.
By the time Deputy Noel arrived, the suspect had fled. Following an on-scene investigation, authorities identified the suspect as Bryan Sterling Hamburg, 39, of Brookeland. An arrest warrant for burglary of a building, a state jail felony, was issued Aug. 13.
That evening, around 8:30 p.m., Deputy Noel and Deputy Walker went to Hamburg’s last known address, where they located and arrested him. He was transported to the Jasper County Jail.
Hamburg is innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Sheriff Chuck Havard said his office remains committed to combating criminal activity in Jasper County.
