Controlled burn had citizens concerned

Just before 8 pm Saturday, Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Department was called out to a brush fire located at 22709 Hwy 96 South.

Elizabeth Harley said, "My daughter said that (it looks like) the house behind the old radiator shop is on fire. The house is totally collapsed. (She sent pictures, but) that was as close as she could get."

It is unknown exactly what was being burned, but Kirbyville VFD Chief, Greg Ellis said that the property owner said that it was a controlled burn so they went back to the department.
