JASPER COUNTY, Texas – Jasper County deputies arrested a wanted fugitive Friday evening following an investigation into a felony weapons charge.
According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies Noel and Daigle were notified on October 24 of a wanted person believed to be staying at a residence in the city of Jasper. The suspect, identified as Mureia Napoleon, 47, of Jasper, had an active felony warrant for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
Deputies responded to the location and located Napoleon in the backyard of the residence. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
Authorities said the warrant stems from a shooting incident that occurred in May within Jasper County.
Sheriff Chuck Havard commended the deputies’ swift response and reiterated the department’s commitment to keeping the community safe.
“Our deputies work hard every day to locate and arrest those who pose a danger to our citizens,” Sheriff Havard said.
Napoleon remains innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
