Community Leaders to Host Public Forum August 16 in Newton

Join local leaders for an informative afternoon at the Howard Civic Center in Newton, Texas, on Saturday, August 16th, starting at 12 noon.

Newton County Judge Ronnie Cochran will present the 2025–2026 Newton County Budget from 12 PM to 1 PM.

Julie Pickren, member of the State Board of Education and advisor to the U.S. Department of Education, will lead a Q&A session covering Texas education options—including public, private, charter, and homeschool—from 1 PM to 2 PM.

Pam Bourdeau, Deputy Voter Registrar for Newton and Jasper Counties, will also be available to answer questions about voter registration.
