According to final results, McLane received 399 votes, defeating incumbent Mayor Anderson Land Jr., who earned 221 votes (32.31%), and challenger Bowe Limbrick, who finished with 64 votes (9.36%). Voter turnout, which began with early voting on April 22, reflected strong community engagement in the city’s leadership.

Moments after the final tally was announced, East Texas Banner’s Rita Shipp sat down with McLane for an exclusive interview to discuss his victory, campaign experiences, and vision for Jasper.

“I think we had a good election,” McLane said. “The outcome was great, and we’ve got a lot of good people moving forward. We’ve got big plans for Jasper. It’s a prime location, and I believe we can do great things for our citizens.”

McLane also expressed heartfelt appreciation to those who participated in the process.

“I want to thank everyone who came out and voted,” he said. “Since early voting started, we had a pretty good turnout. I think everyone was pleased with how it went, and I truly appreciate it.”

When asked about his immediate priorities as mayor, McLane was clear:

“Getting things back up and running — that’s number one right now.”

Reflecting on his campaign, McLane shared a moment that stood out — engaging directly with voters outside City Hall during early voting.

“We would stop folks to ask what they wanted to see from City Council. We got some great answers — real direction for how to move forward.”

Born and raised in Jasper, McLane says his mission is both personal and purposeful.

“This is my hometown, and I want it to feel like home for everyone else, too. A place with respect, dignity — a place people want to come visit and be proud of.”

McLane, along with newly elected council members Bob Mayhar and Mamie Horn, will be sworn in during a special-called meeting of the Jasper City Council, scheduled for Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall. Mayhar defeated incumbent District 2 Councilman Ronnie Sample, while Horn ran unopposed for the District 1 seat, which was vacated following the sudden resignation of Marcus Barber last year.
