KIRBYVILLE, TX-
The City of Kirbyville is currently issuing citations for lawn related offences. Excessive overgrowth, and strewn garbage are part of the problem, however junk vehicles seem to be at the center of the issue right now.
Kirbyville Mayor Frank George said, "Our ordinance follows the Texas State Transportation Code on 'junked vehicles'. Basically, any vehicle that doesn’t have a current registration is not allowed in the city."
According to the code, the term "junked vehicle" is defined as a motor vehicle that is inoperative; and that does not have a lawfully affixed unexpired license plate or a valid motor vehicle safety inspection certificate, or that is wrecked or dismantled.
The Kirbyville Police Department has been issuing citations this week, and will continue to do so until all are received.
You can receive a copy of the ordinance from the City Hall in Kirbyville, next week.
