JASPER — The South East Texas Regional Planning Commission (SETRPC) has announced a change to the City of Jasper Public Transit Pilot Project, reducing service to one day per week due to low ridership.
Beginning Wednesday, February 4, 2026, South East Texas Transit (SETT) will provide curb-to-curb pick-up and drop-off transportation services on Wednesdays only, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. within the City of Jasper.
The transit pilot has been available to Jasper residents since July 7, 2025, operating through a partnership between SETRPC and Orange County Transportation under South East Texas Transit. The service is designed to transport residents from their homes to destinations throughout the city, including work, school, shopping centers, healthcare facilities, public services, grocery stores, and other essential locations.
According to SETT, the revised schedule was implemented due to a lack of ridership under the previous service structure.
All vehicles used in the program are wheelchair accessible, and the cost of the service remains $1.00 per one-way trip. Reservations are required, with organizers recommending that residents schedule rides at least 48 hours in advance. Same-day service may be available but is subject to availability.
Residents wishing to schedule a ride may contact Orange County Transportation at 409-203-1201.
Rates and service times are subject to change.
The Public Transit Pilot Project is funded through the Texas Department of Transportation Public Transportation Division (PTN) Service Expansion Program (SEP).
