CHESTER, Texas — Chester ISD dismissed students early on Monday afternoon after a water service interruption left the campus temporarily without running water.
According to the district, TXDOT crews accidentally struck a water line while performing nearby road work, leading to a disruption in water service. Initially, the outage was expected to be short-term, and staff provided bottled water and alternative resources for students and employees.
When repairs took longer than anticipated, Chester ISD made the decision to release students at 1:15 p.m. to avoid restroom and sanitation issues.
“The situation was outside the district’s control, and we’re grateful for the patience of parents, staff, and students,” district officials said. “We appreciate the quick response from the Chester Water Supply Company and the efforts of our staff to keep students safe and comfortable throughout the day.”
Water service was restored later in the day, and classes are expected to resume on schedule.
