NEWTON COUNTY, Texas – A Newton County man is behind bars following his arrest on an assault charge in the Call community.
On August 18, 2025, deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance on County Road 3102. When they arrived, the suspect had already fled the scene. Deputies collected evidence and presented it to a judge, who issued a warrant for Samuel McGallion on a charge of assault causing bodily injury–family violence.
The following day, August 19, at approximately 2 p.m., Sheriff Colton Havard and Jasper County Precinct 3 Constable Scott Jacks went to McGallion’s residence to serve the warrant. McGallion was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Newton County Jail.
Sheriff Havard emphasized his office’s commitment to pursuing violent offenders and protecting families across the county.
