The Jasper Fire Department had its hands full today, responding to a series of emergencies across the city and surrounding areas, including multiple brush fires, a structure fire, and a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 190.

Firefighters were dispatched to three separate brush fires that burned in dry, windy conditions:

  • 3000 block of FM 252

  • County Road 166 & FM 2799

  • A brush pile fire that spread and ignited a shed in the 2100 block of Pinecrest Drive

The shed fire was caused by flames extending from an adjacent brush pile, underscoring the dangers of outdoor burning during dry conditions.

In addition to the fires, Jasper firefighters also responded to a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 190 West near the intersection with U.S. 63, just past Lowe’s. Crews assisted with scene safety and emergency response while traffic was impacted in the area.

Throughout the day, the Jasper Fire Department had nine trucks in service and deployed approximately 15 to 20 volunteer firefighters per call, stretching resources as multiple incidents occurred across different locations.

Fire officials are reminding residents to use extreme caution when conducting any outdoor burning. Conditions remain dry, and winds can shift quickly, allowing fires to escape control.

Residents are urged to:

  • Avoid burning on windy days

  • Keep a dedicated water source immediately available

  • Never leave fires unattended

Officials stress that even small brush fires can escalate rapidly and put property, responders, and lives at risk.
