TYLER COUNTY, Texas — After reviewing rainfall totals across the county and consulting with the Texas A&M Forest Service, Tyler County Emergency Management announced today that the burn ban will remain in place.
Officials say recent rainfall wasn’t enough to reduce wildfire risk, and weather conditions over the next 24 hours are expected to push the county into extreme fire danger.
“We simply did not get enough rainfall overall for the county,” the update states. “We are in extreme fire danger tomorrow with weather conditions. Please no outside burning.”
Residents are urged to avoid all outdoor burning — including brush piles, burn barrels, and debris burning — until conditions improve. Even a small flame or spark could spread quickly due to dry fuels and high winds.
Outdoor grilling should be monitored closely, and emergency officials remind residents to:
Avoid parking vehicles on dry grass
Secure trailer chains to prevent dragging sparks
Properly extinguish cigarettes
Tyler County will continue monitoring conditions and will reassess the burn ban when it's safe to do so.
