Buna Man Arrested on Burglary and Assault Charges

BUNA, Texas — A Buna man is facing felony burglary and misdemeanor trespass charges after allegedly forcing his way into a home and assaulting the resident on Friday afternoon, authorities said.

According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 2:00 p.m. on August 8 to a residence on County Road 725 following reports of an assault.

When the deputy arrived, Chicorean “Chiko” Dill, 42, was standing in the road in front of the residence. He was detained while an investigation was conducted.

Deputies determined that Dill had previously been issued a criminal trespass warning for the property but entered the home while carrying a hammer. Investigators said Dill shoved the homeowner from the doorway and onto the porch, causing injury.

Dill was arrested and booked into the Jasper County Jail on charges of Burglary of a Habitation–Assault (second-degree felony) and Criminal Trespass (Class B misdemeanor).

He remains innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Sheriff Chuck Havard said the arrest underscores the department’s commitment to combating criminal activity in Jasper County.
