Buna man arrested for Deadly Conduct and Felon in Possession of a Firearm

BUNA, Texas — Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Buna man Sunday evening after responding to a disturbance involving gunfire on FM 1004 West.

According to Sheriff Chuck Havard, deputies were dispatched around 7:16 p.m. on October 26 to the 9000 block of FM 1004 West in reference to a disturbance with shots fired. Deputies Daigle, Roy, and Walker arrived at the scene and learned that the suspect, identified as Jerrell Wayne Stanley, 54, of Buna, had been involved in a verbal altercation with the victims before leaving the area.

Investigators say Stanley later returned to the property with a pistol and fired a round in the direction of a building, striking a boat trailer. Further investigation revealed that Stanley is a convicted felon.

Stanley was taken into custody and transported to the Jasper County Jail. He was charged with Deadly Conduct (Felony 3) and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (Felony 3).

Sheriff Havard commended the quick response of his deputies and reaffirmed that the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to combating criminal activity throughout the county.

Stanley is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
