BUNA, TX-
Shortly after 2:00 pm Sunday afternoon, a home located at 276 County Road 899 in Buna was struck by lightning during a passing storm. Buna, Evadale, and Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Department's were called out to fight the blaze.
Kirbyville Fire Chief Greg Ellis said, "They'll be able to salvage a few things, but I really think the house was lost." Ellis added, "In the case of a lightning storm, it's not a bad idea to unplug everything just in case. Also, if you smell smoke, get us in route. In one lightning involved fire, the smoke was all in the attic and upstairs. Every light switch and plug in the house was melted, but no fire".
