Early Sunday morning, Jasper County deputies, working alongside the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), apprehended a suspect wanted in connection with an aggravated kidnapping.
At approximately 4:27 a.m. on July 6, 2025, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) was contacted by ACSO regarding a possible aggravated kidnapping that had taken place earlier that morning in the Plum Ridge community of Angelina County.
Based on information provided by ACSO, Jasper County deputies learned that the suspect and the female victim were believed to be staying at the Bass Buster Inn in Brookeland. Deputies quickly located the trailer in question and made entry.
Inside, they found the suspect, identified as Clayton Sexton, 30, of Silsbee, who was taken into custody without incident. The victim was located in the trailer’s bedroom and was reported to be unharmed.
Angelina County deputies were on the scene and transported Sexton back to Angelina County, where he will face charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Additional charges may follow.
“These individuals are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law,” stated Sheriff Chuck Havard. “I want to acknowledge and thank our deputies and the deputies with ACSO for professionally handling this situation so quickly.”
