JASPER, Texas — Jasper County showed up in full force Saturday as the Sheriff’s Office hosted its annual Blue Santa “Fill the Boat” toy drive at Wal-Mart, and the community didn’t just fill the boat— they overflowed it.

Throughout the day, families, shoppers, and local employees stopped by to drop off toys of every shape and size. Stuffed animals, action figures, dolls, sports equipment, police-themed toys—if a kid could dream it, someone donated it.

On top of the large haul of toys, the event also collected more than $1,000 in monetary donations, all of which will go directly toward purchasing even more toys for children in need across Jasper County this Christmas.

Sheriff Chuck Havard said the generosity was overwhelming.
“It’s very humbling when someone comes up and tells you they rearranged their weekly grocery budget just to help us provide toys to kids,” Havard said. “Jasper County showed up today. We are grateful beyond words.”
Sheriff Havard also extended appreciation to county employees and volunteers who helped coordinate and work the event.
“Our county employees volunteer their time and work on this program throughout the year to make sure families in need can provide a few gifts to their kids. It’s an honor and a privilege serving this community.”

Blue Santa is operated by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and helps ensure that local children who might otherwise go without have gifts waiting for them on Christmas morning.
As the patrol boat sat packed with toys, one thing was clear:
Jasper County didn’t just fill the boat—they filled it with love, kindness, and Christmas magic.
