Accident on the Neches River Bridge-Jasper/Tyler County line, sent two to the hospital

This morning just after 6:00 am, Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety were called out to an accident on Farm-to-Market Road 1013, west of Kirbyville when two vehicles collided on the Neches River Bridge.

According to the report, a 2010 Ford pickup was traveling west, while a 2001 GMC pickup was traveling east. A vehicle in front of the GMC slowed to make a left turn into a private drive. The driver of the GMC failed to control his speed, hit the brakes hard and traveled into a side skid into the oncoming lane and was struck by the Ford.
The driver of the Ford, identified as 33-year-old Luis Ramirez Gutierez of Jasper, was taken to a nearby hospital by personal vehicle for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the GMC, identified as 27-year-old Jorge Suarez Guzman of Woodville, was also taken to a nearby hospital by personal vehicle for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Tri-Community VFD controlled traffic as well as cleaned up the scene following the investigation.
