A little known, (not-so-secret) secret in Jasper County is Compass Christian Academy

A little known, (not-so-secret) secret in Jasper County is Compass Christian Academy in Buna.

Kylie Chapman, Pre-Kindergarten teacher said, "We have been open in Jasper County for two years now, in August it will be three years, and we still have people telling us they didn't know that we exist, so we want to get the word out." Chapman added, "We are moving from Kirbyville to Buna for this upcoming school year and we will be housed at Genesis Baptist Church."

The school will offer Mother’s Day Out (3 and 4 year olds), PK (4 year olds), Kindergarten, and 2nd grade this year. They are also looking for teachers and classroom helpers as they expand.

Some things that make them unique:

- directed by and have certified teachers in the classroom

- teacher to scholar instruction, not technology based

- hand picked curriculum for each grade level and sometimes subjects within the grade level. They don’t blanket one curriculum.

- class sizes cap at 10

You can find out more on their website:

They also have an active Facebook page, Compass Christian Academy.

Student Admission Policy:

CCA admits scholars of any race, color, national, and ethnic origin to the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to scholars at the academy. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies and programs.

Scholars are selected in order to maintain a student body of high academic and moral caliber. Admission is granted and vacancies are filled on the basis of family interview, academic achievement, ability tests, prior performance in school, and other pertinent data. Only scholars in good standing with previous schools are accepted.

CCA is an inter-denominational, ecumenical, Christian community, which operates with a limited and specific set of primary beliefs. While being careful to hold to the necessary tenets of Christianity, we in no way wish to indicate a limitation of anyone's personal interpretation and application of Scripture.

We believe...

the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21)

there is one God, externally existent in three persons-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30)

...in the deity of Christ (John 10:33),

His miracles (John 2:11),

His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:35), His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, Hebrews 7:26), His vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 2:9), His resurrection (John 11:25, 1 Corinthians 15:4),

His ascension to the right hand of God (Mark 16:19),

His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11)

...in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceedingly sinfulness of human nature, and that we are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ and that only by God's grace and through faith alone we are saved (John 3:16-19, John 5:24, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:8-9, Ephesians 2:8-10, Titus 3:5)

...in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost the saved to the resurrection of life, and the lost to the resurrection of condemnation (John 5:28-29)

...in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, Galatians 3:26-28)

...in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life (Romans 8:13-14, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Ephesians 4:30, Ephesians 5:18
