A Buna school bus and Jasper County dump truck were involved in a minor accident this morning-no injuries were reported

Buna, TX Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard said, "On April 23rd at approximately 6:55 a.m., the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a traffic crash involving a Buna ISD School Bus and a Jasper County Dump Truck. The crash occurred at County Road 791 and County Road 786. There were no injuries reported and all of the school kids have been transported away from the scene on another school bus. Texas DPS is in charge of the traffic investigation."

Buna ISD has released the following statement:

Parents and families,

One of our buses was involved in an accident this morning while picking up students. It was early in the route, and there were 6 students on the bus at the time. All parents have been contacted and the students and bus driver are fine.

Buna ISD appreciates the bus driver for his attention to our students as soon as the accident occurred, our transportation director in getting to the scene so quickly, our commissioner for his concern for our kids, and the fast response time of EMS, DPS and JSCO to make sure everything was okay.

This is sure a scary thing to happen. We’re thankful everybody is fine and that we have such great people taking care of our kids and us.
