If you live in Anderson, Bell, Brazoria, Caldwell, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Fort Bend, Galveston, Guadalupe, Hardin, Hays, Henderson, Hockley, Jasper, Kaufman, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Newton, Polk, San Jacinto, Smith, Trinity, Tyler, Walker, and Wharton County and your home suffered ANY damage from the severe storms, tornadoes, flooding, or Hurricane Beryl in 2024, you may qualify for free home repairs or reimbursement — up to $75,000.
On July 9, 2025, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., announced that applications are now open for two programs funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program.

Homeowner Assistance Program (HAP) | Repairs or rebuilds your home at NO cost to you | Amount varies based on damage |
Homeowner Reimbursement Program (HRP) | Reimburses homeowners for repairs already completed | $3,000–$75,000 (stick-built homes)$3,000–$50,000 (manufactured homes) |
You can apply for only one program — either assistance or reimbursement.
