A 19-year-old student was taken into custody Thursday morning at Kirbyville High School following the execution of multiple outstanding felony warrants, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.
Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard confirmed that Conner Haltom, 19, of Kirbyville, was arrested on January 15, 2026, after authorities located him on campus. Haltom had three outstanding felony arrest warrants for probation violations stemming from a prior charge of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.
The arrest was carried out without incident at Kirbyville CISD’s alternative campus, with district officials cooperating fully with law enforcement.
In a statement, Kirbyville CISD emphasized that the arrest was not related to any conduct occurring at school.
“A KCISD student has been arrested this morning. KCISD cooperated with the sheriff’s office to facilitate taking the student into custody without incident at our alternative campus,” the district stated. “The arrest was from probation violations, not conduct at school. KCISD is committed to a safe, secure learning place.”
Sheriff Havard echoed that cooperation and praised district officials for their assistance.
“Sheriff Chuck Havard and his staff are committed to combating criminal activity in Jasper County,” Havard said. “We would like to thank officials at the Kirbyville Independent School District for their cooperation and assistance in this case.”
Authorities stressed that Haltom is innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
No students or staff were injured, and there was no disruption to normal school operations.
