11-Year-Old Dies After UTV Accident in Beech Grove; 7-Year-Old Also Injured

BEECH GROVE, Texas – A tragic accident Tuesday evening claimed the life of an 11-year-old boy and left a 7-year-old girl with minor injuries after a utility terrain vehicle overturned at the end of County Road 146.
Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department (BGVFD) and first responders were dispatched at 6:06 p.m. to reports of a child pinned under a UTV. When crews arrived, they found a Polaris ATV on its side with the boy trapped beneath it and the young girl nearby.
According to a statement from the Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department, firefighters were able to lift the overturned UTV while a nearby home health nurse pulled the child out from under the vehicle. Firefighters Jonas Wendt and Kelsie Wilson immediately began treatment until Allegiance Mobile Health — Jasper EMS arrived a short time later.
The boy was taken to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was pronounced dead, according to Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shana Clark.
A 7-year-old was also involved in the crash. Officials said the child was taken by private vehicle to the hospital and was treated for minor injuries.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the incident.
