Youth Big Buck Contest fully Underway in Newton and Jasper Counties

SOUTHEAST Texas - The Youth Big Buck Contest is off an running!
Youth hunters all across Newton and Jasper counties are making their submission for this year’s Youth Buck Contest, a free regional event designed to promote outdoor skills and conservation awareness among hunters 16 and younger.
Registration remains open through the entire season, which runs from Sept. 27, 2025, through Feb. 28, 2026. Eligible participants must hold a valid Texas hunting license and harvest their deer legally within Newton or Jasper counties.

Contestants can check in and have their deer scored at one of three official locations:
Prizes will be awarded for the highest scoring bucks and longest spike bucks, with additional drawings and awards planned for the season’s close. The event is supported by numerous local sponsors, including Newton and Jasper County sheriff’s offices, the Texas Game Warden Association, and local businesses.
