Update - Woman Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash on Highway 87

NEWTON COUNTY, Texas — Emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle accident approximately 12:00pm Monday after a woman reportedly ran off the road near the intersection of Highway 87 and County Road 3036.
The Newton Volunteer Fire Department was the first to arrive at the scene. Jasper EMS was called to assess the victim’s condition.
The woman’s medical status has not been released at this time.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, East Texas Banner will update as we receive information.
UPDATE: Trout Creek Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene. The victim appears to have sustained a broken ankle. Her identity has not yet been released. According to the investigation, the woman reportedly did not see the construction signs and veered off the highway.
