Wildcats Swat the Hornets!

Friday night in The Ville anticipation was high for the rematch of the Kirbyville Wildcats and the Hemphill Hornets. The Wildcats took loss last year but were looking for revenge. Kirbyville fresh off a win over the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs was looking to carry that momentum into this game. Wildcats seemed to let the excitement get to them in the 1 Qtr. having multiple penelties. Even with all the excitement the Wildcats hit the scoreboard first, scoring on a two play drive. The Hornets answered scoring on their next drive, bringing the score 8-8. This seem to help the Wildcats settle down and into their rhythm. Defense did an excellent job of containing the Hornets threats, their QB #1, RB's 21 & 34, and the wideout #10. Wildcats offense had multiple players that contributed to their success, players B. Garner, J. Huffman, B. Mathyaha, & D. Fussell. A. Anderson was a driving factor is using his strength and speed to gain crucial yardage. Starting the 2nd Qtr. the Wildcats hit the gas and never looked back keep the pressure on the Hornets both offensively and defensively. Wildcats were up 30-8 going into halftime. The Hornets tried to make big plays on the second half but the Wildcats held their ground. The Hornets were able put one more score on the board in the 4th Qtr. bring the score to 46-14, but that was short lived when the Wildcats put up another TD. The Wildcats took the win 52-14 giving them a 3-1 record and currently 4th in District. The atmosphere on the sidelines has taken a drastic change with players encouraging and lifting each other up. Even the underclassmen that came in the 4 Qtr. showed their ready to step to the bat the upperclassmen are setting. Your Kirbyville Wildcats travel to East Chambers this Friday to face off against the EC Buccaneers at 7 pm. It's a Great Day to be a Wildcat!!
