Wiergate man seriously injured in accident with FedEx truck

On Thursday evening, The Department of Public Safety was called out to a crash on Hwy 87, north of Cr 1029, at around 8 pm.

DPS Media Sergeant Shana Clark said, "A 2021 Ford van merged onto the highway from a private drive and was traveling north. It is reported that a 2002 Chevrolet pickup, also traveling north, attempted to pass the Ford, but did so in an unsafe manner and struck it on its back left."

The driver of the Ford, a FedEx truck, identified as 32-year-old Christopher Crnolatas of Lufkin, was not injured.

The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 60-year-old Raymond Ridgeway of Wiergate, was transported to HCA Kingwood for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
