Southeast Texas — Students across Southeast Texas joined their peers nationwide Wednesday morning for See You at the Pole, an annual, student-led prayer gathering held around school flagpoles before classes.
The event, which began in 1990 in Burleson, Texas, has grown into a global movement drawing millions of participants each year. Students come together to pray for their schools, friends, teachers and communities, emphasizing unity and faith.

At campuses all over southeast Texas, groups of students assembled before sunrise to sing, share scripture and pray. Organizers said the event is designed to be led by students rather than school staff, keeping it voluntary and outside official instruction time.

“See You at the Pole isn’t about politics — it’s about students praying for their schools and communities,” said one local youth leader who attended the gathering in Jasper.
While participation varies from campus to campus, local churches often support students by encouraging attendance or providing breakfast afterward.

This year’s theme, “Where Two or More Are Gathered” — taken from Matthew 18:20 — reinforced the idea that small groups can make a big impact through prayer.
We, at the East Texas Banner were impressed with the massive gatherings shown through school social media posts today and hope this is an encouragement to all schools and students who participated. Prayer matters. All photos retrieved from area social media posts.
