Two vehicle accident in Buna sends two to St Elizabeth

At around 5 pm Thursday evening, Jasper County Sheriff's Department, the Department of Public Safety, and Buna Volunteer Fire Department were called out to U.S. Highway 96, at the intersection of County Road 838 in Buna.

DPS Media Sergeant Shana Clark said, "The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 5 p.m., a 2015 Dodge pickup was traveling south while a 2007 Mercury SUV was traveling north. It is reported that the driver of the SUV made an unsafe left turn in front of the pickup and was struck."

The driver of the Dodge, identified as 27-year-old Jonathan Coleson of Kirbyville was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Mercury, identified as 58-year-old Octaviano Perez of Galveston was also transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
