KIRBYVILLE, TEXAS - On October 29th, 2025, at approximately 8:57 p.m., Deputy Gray and Kirbyville Officer Goings made contact with a suspicious vehicle located at Ellis Truck and Trailer Parts at 482 FM 363 in Kirbyville that was currently closed for business. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Matthew Gene Haskins, 44, of Kirbyville. While speaking with the driver, Deputy Gray had reason to believe that narcotics may be in the vehicle and asked for consent to search, which was given. During the search, Methamphetamines was located. The passenger of the vehicle, Casey Renee Laurent, 33, of Silsbee, was found to have (12) warrants from City of Kirbyville. Both denied knowledge of the suspected Methamphetamines and both were subsequently arrested for Possession Controlled Substance PG1<1g (State Jail Felony). They were transported to the Jasper County Jail.

Both individuals are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Sheriff Chuck Havard and his staff are committed to combating criminal activity in Jasper County. Thank you to KPD for their assistance.
