The changing of the Guard -Newton County presents Sheriff Colton Havard

Just after midnight, Newton County Sheriff Colton Havard was sworn in with great expectations by District Judge Craig Mixon.

Just after the swearing in, Havard then gave the oath of office to his officers and members of his administration.

In a statement, Sheriff Havard said, "I am honored and thankful to be given the opportunity to serve the citizens of Newton County".

Havards dad, Chuck Havard was also sworn in today as the Sheriff of Jasper County.
