Updated: Standoff in Roganville

Updated: There isn't much information at this time, but the Jasper County Sheriff's Department has been on the scene of a standoff.

The situation began at around 10 am Wednesday morning when Deputies were called to a residence in Roganville regarding an unidentified man in some sort of mental distress with a gun. The man has locked himself his residence.

Chief Deputy Scotty Duncan said, the man did come out to speak to deputies, but sadly took his own life during negotiations.

Duncan said that a second similar situation also occurred today, but thankfully that one ended peacefully without injuries.
