Spectrum marked a major milestone Tuesday with a ribbon cutting and open house celebrating the one-year anniversary of its Jasper Technician Center—one of five rural hubs fueling the company’s push to expand high-speed internet access and create jobs across East Texas.

Local officials, Spectrum employees, and members of the Jasper-Lake Sam Rayburn Area Chamber of Commerce gathered for the event, which included a facility tour and a live fiber-splicing demo that gave attendees a firsthand look at the tech bringing gig-speed internet to rural homes.

The $1 million investment into the Jasper facility has already connected more than 11,000 homes and businesses across five counties. The center is staffed by over 30 field technicians and construction coordinators, most of whom call the area home.

“Our teams live and work here, so they’re personally invested in the service we provide,” said Chris Snyder, Regional Vice President for Spectrum’s Texas-Louisiana Management Area. “This center strengthens our ability to serve communities across the region.”

Spectrum’s rural broadband expansion is part of a nationwide initiative backed by more than $7 billion in private investment from Charter Communications. The company plans to install over 100,000 miles of new fiber-optic infrastructure and reach more than 1.7 million additional locations—including underserved areas like Jasper County.

County Judge Mark Allen, who was among the event’s speakers, called the broadband access a “game-changer” for rural life in East Texas. “It impacts everything—education, business, farming, health care,” Allen said. “And Spectrum’s investment shows what’s possible when corporations partner with communities instead of bypassing them.”

The Jasper facility joins four other tech centers in Mount Pleasant, Kilgore, Crockett, and Canton, each serving as a launch point for Spectrum’s expanding rural network teams. Spectrum also employs nearly 16,000 people across Texas and says its customer-first model includes same-day installation and service call guarantees.
