The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has placed portions of the region under a Level 2 (Slight) and Level 1 (Marginal) risk for severe weather this evening, Sunday, March 30, 2025.
Communities across Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana—especially those in the yellow and dark green shaded zones on the risk map—should remain weather aware and monitor local forecasts closely.
According to the latest outlook, isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop late this afternoon into the evening hours as a weak cold front moves through the area. Some of these storms could become strong to severe, with the primary threats being damaging wind gusts over 58 mph and hail up to 1 inch in diameter. A low-end tornado threat cannot be ruled out, particularly in areas under the Level 2 risk.
The threat should taper off overnight as the front pushes eastward, giving way to clearing skies and warmer, more spring-like weather to start the week.
